The Celebration of KIBI's 20th Anniversary

On December 5 and 6, 2009, the KIBI (Karmapa International Buddhist Institute) celebrated its twentieth anniversary.During the weeks preceding the event preparations were in full swing: scaffolding went up everywhere, a small host of artists were busy redoing the painting work inside the temple under the direction of Denzong Norbu-la, a great Tibetan painter, and all the outer facades, both of the main building and the surrounding residential complex were completely renovated and repainted.

The Kagyu Monlam 2009

Once again this year, between November 27 and December 3, the Kagyu Monlam was held at the holy site of Bodh Gaya. Approximately 5,000 practitioners gathered to join in this outstanding event.

Karmapa Visited Europe, June 1 to August 29, 2009

H.H the 17th Gyalwa Karmapa Trinley Thaye Dorje visited Europe from June to August, 2009. It was also for the first time that Karmapa set foot on Russian soil. At the St. Petersburg airport he was warmly welcomed by Alexander Koybagarov (President of Russian Karma Kagyu School Buddhist Association) and many others.

Karmapa Gave Teachings And Empowerment in KIBI, March 4 to 10, 2009

The 17th Gyalwa Karmapa, Trinle Thaye Dorje, who had just returned from his spectacular travel to Hong Kong, offered again a week-long course with teachings and empowerment for an audience of international students at his Karmapa International Buddhist Institute, New Delhi.

Karmapa's First Visit To Hong Kong (Feb 3-16, 2009)

28 years after the visit of His Holiness 16th Karmapa, it is the first time for His Holiness 17th Karmapa, Trinley Thaye Dorje to visit Hong Kong.  To welcome this auspicious occasion, more than a hundred disciples have delightfully received His Holiness at the Hong Kong Chap Lap Kok Airport with cheers and waving flags on 3 February 2009.
