In February 2011 His Holiness the 17th Gyalwa Karmapa Trinley Thaye Dorje visited Hong Kong for the second time.

lwa Karmapa’s official programme in Hong Kong ended with two sessions of teaching on the topic “What is Buddhism?” which were attended by more than 1,500 devotees from over the world.
He started out with a general presentation of the topic, but soon invited his audience to share any questions and comments they might have, emphasising that a two-way exchange was usually more fruitful and interesting than a traditional one-way teaching.
The audience made ample use of this invitation, and a lively exchange on a large variety of topics ensued.
Given the diversity of subjects addressed, the DVD menu offers the possibility to select questions by topic.

The Karmapas, whose line of reincarnations dates back to the 12th century, have always been among the most outstanding masters in Tibetan Buddhism. H. H. the 16th Karmapa, Rangjung Rigpe Dorje (1924-1981), was instrumental in making the teachings of the Kagyu School accessible worldwide.
His reincarnation, the 17th Karmapa, Trinley Thaye Dorje, was born in Lhasa in 1983 and has been living in India since 1994. This film affords an insight into the Karmapa’s life from 1994 to 2008.
