Responsibility of Shamarpa recognition

On the 27th of October 2014 His Holiness the 17th Gyalwa Karmapa Trinley Thaye Dorje annouces that it is His responsibility to find and recognize genuine incarnation of Shamar Rinpoche.

This is a reply after Jigme Rinpoche, brother of the late Kunzig Shamar Rinpoche and representatives of over 700 buddhist centers around the world requested His Holiness Gyalwa Karmapa to recognize the next incarnation of Shamarpa.

Gyalwa Karmapa stated:

It is my solemn duty and responsibility alone to find the authentic incarnation of His Holiness Kunzig Shamar Rinpoche

His Holiness the XIVth Kunzig Shamar Rinpoche Chokyi Lodro passed away on June 11th 2014 in his main Bodhi Path center in Renchen Ulm, Germany. Extensive ceremonies took place at Karmapa International Buddhist Institute in New Delhi, Diwakar Buddhist Academy in Kalimpong, Bhutan and the final cremation ceremony took place at Shar Minub Institute in Kathmandu, Nepal.
