Kagyu Monlam 2015 will take place from 15th to 21st December
Every year His Holiness the 17th Karmapa leads prayers and aspirations in Bodhgaya, for the world peace and happiness of all beings. Rinpoches, high lamas, monks and lay practitioners of Karma Kagyu school gather under the Bodhi Tree. It is believed that under that particular tree historical Buddha Sakhyamuni, understood nature of phenomena, attained enlightenment. Bodhgaya is the most holy place for all buddhists in the world. It is said that being in that place and making aspirations in a gathering has great power and merit.
The program of Kagyu Monlam includes every day prayers and aspirations under the Bodhi Tree. In addition Thaye Dorje, the 17th Gyalwa Karmapa teaches, bestows empowerment and conduct a special puja for deceased people. Every year Kagyu Monlam Comittee engages into various charitable activities, such as distribution of food and blankets for poorest people of Bodhgaya.
