On the last evening of His stay in Kuching His Holiness visited Kuching Bodhi Path Society to meet with organisers and devotees, give teachings, answer questions and conduct a Chenresig Practice.

On May 19th His Holiness granted the empowerment of Guru Rinpoche, also known as Padmasambhava, the “Lotus-Born”, to a gathering of approximately 1,500 devotees. The preparation for the empowerment started in the morning, with His Holiness and the gathered Rinpoches, lamas and monks performing the puja of Guru Rinpoche.

In the morning of May 18th Gyalwa Karmapa performed the Red Chenresig Jang Chok, a ritual for the deceased.
In the evening His Holiness transmitted the blessing empowerment of Kubera, a wealth deity. While the practice of all wisdom aspects will ultimately lead to the same absolute result – perfect enlightenment – each one is also associated with certain relative benefits along the path. In the case of Kubera this relative accomplishment is related to the enhancement of wealth.

On the morning of May 17th, 2013, His Holiness Karmapa paid a visit to Kuching Bodhipath Society.
In the afternoon His Holiness visited a palliative care unit at Sarawak General Hospital, as well as a cancer unit for adults and children, and spent some time with the bedridden patients.
In the evening His Holiness attended the welcome gala dinner that was organised in His honour at the Pullman Hotel in Kuching.

His Holiness arrived at Kuching International Airport on May 16th at 2.35pm, accompanied by Ven. Shangpa Rinpoche and His entourage of monks.
He was give an hearty welcome by Lama Palden, resident Lama at Kuching Bodhipath Center, and Joseph Chua, chairman of Kuching Bodhi Path Society, as well as Dorje Lopon Nendo Rinpoche and many other lamas who had been invited for this event, coming from Rumtek monastery and different centres in Southeast Asia, and also by many devotees from Sarawak, other parts of Malaysia and from all over the world.
