On the morning of January 19 His Holiness joined his monks for a naga vase puja at Hong Convention and Exhibition Centre.
Before starting the recitation of the ritual text, he gave a brief explanation about the meaning and benefit of this particular puja. On the evenings of January 19 and 20, His Holiness the 17th Gyalwa Karmapa transmitted the empowerments of Green and White Tara to a gathering of approximately 2,500 devotees.
The official programme of His Holiness the 17th Gyalwa Karmapa in Hong Kong started on January 18 with the empowerment of Buddha Amitabha (“Limitless Light”), regent of the Pure Land of Sukhavati (tib: Dewachen).
In the afternoon of January 17 Gyalwa Karmapa held a private audience for Mr. Shiah Jing Shan and a large group of the latter’s family members and followers.
Between December 27 and 31, 2012, His Holiness the 17th Gyalwa Karmapa Trinley Thaye Dorje, as well as Kunzig Shamar Rinpoche, were invited to Hong Kong for a very special private event: the wedding ceremony of Mr Jason Fung and his bride Loretta. The couple and their families had wished for both the black-hat and the red-hat emanations of the Karmapa (also known as shamarnag) to be present for this grand day in their lives.
