The Gyalwa Karmapa, his entourage and about 100 followers arrived around midday on a chartered airplane from Kalmykia in Moscow, the capital of Russia. In the afternoon a cheerful welcoming reception was given on the rooftop of the Central Concert Hall Rossia at Moscow University. Buddhist Centres from Moscow and numerous places around Russia’s Metropole had the opportunity to present their activities to the Karmapa.
In the evening of June 15, the Gyalwa Karmapa answered questions for more than 2 hours from 1850 people who came see him at the Central Concert Hall Rossia.
On June 16 the 17th Gyalwa Karmapa visited the Diamond Way Buddhist Centre in Moscow. He blessed the Centre and granted many media interviews. In the evening, the Karmapa gave a Dorje Sempa Initiation to 2100 people in the Central Concert Hall Rossia.
On June 17 the Karmapa was invited to give a lecture in the Oil & Gas Club at Gostiny Dvor near Kremlin. Afterwards, he was guided on a special tour through the Chamber of Treasures in the Kremlin where one can see precious jewels and metals from the Ural Mountains such as diamonds, emeralds, rubies, and large nuggets of gold and silver.
The visit ended with a festive Gala Dinner in Catherine’s Palace, with entertaining music and delicious food! That night, the Karmapa and his entourage continued their journey by airplane to Irkutsk in Siberia.
