Bodhgaya, Karma Kagyu Meeting

In accordance with the wishes of Thaye Dorje, His Holiness the 17th Gyalwa Karmapa, the Second International Karma Kagyu Meeting was held in Bodhgaya on 12 and 13 December 2016, just before the Kagyu Monlam.

Representatives from various monastic and lay institutions, dharma centres and regions from around the world got together for two days of exchange, based on the motto of Timeline – Buddhism’s journey across centuries and continents.

Approximately 200 individuals – Rinpoches and lamas, monks and laypeople from East and West – took part in the meeting, and around twenty-five among them were invited to talk about their personal relationship with the Karma Kagyu lineage and what it means for their lives.

Among the speakers were Prof. Sempa Dorje, His Eminence Beru Khyentse Rinpoche, Ven. Shangpa Rinpoche, Ven. Sherab Gyaltsen Rinpoche, Ven. Nendo Rinpoche, Khenpo Chodrak Tenphel, as well as representatives from the Himalayan regions and various centres in Europe, South East Asia and the USA.

Karmapa has expressed his wish to make the International Karma Kagyu Meeting an annual event, so the Third International Karma Kagyu Meeting will be held in December 2017.
